Also, the resource room is an awesome site for finding "sponge" activities, i.e. things that the kids can do when the lesson plan is too skimpy or there are transitional times. I found a book of math activities in case I end up subbing math and we run short. I had us come up with euphemisms and generate anagrams a couple of times today; I really don't like those couple of minutes before the end of class when they're pretty much done and they start shmoozing with each other and I feel like a babysitter (and I really, really don't like it when I'm left with absolutely nothing, especially for a class with a loose curriculum like drama). Yesterday I did a word search out of desperation, with the promise of candy to the first one who finished. This was amazingly motivating.
