I'm not particularly a Spitzer fan, but my goodness, could Tom Suozzi have had any more hubris? I disliked him after he decided to target a perfectly nondescript state assemblyman from this area as an example of Albany fustiness--this guy had been a rainmaker in the area and there was no particular reason to force him out except for Suozzi's desire to play kingmaker. And then to take on Spitzer? What was he thinking? His approach would have made sense if Spitzer were already in office, but as someone who's made a career out of reforming, particularly on Wall Street, Spitzer was not so susceptible to a David-versus-Goliath let's-get-rid-of-politics-as-usual approach. Just stupid, stupid, stupid.
