When I get a chance, I'm going to write up something from my friend's private, seeeekrit childhood notebook. Among other things, she wrote up a list of great horse names, and they are hilarious. She had a pretty good ear for a third grader. I think my two favorites were Buttermilk and Jo Jo. Wasn't there always a patient older female horse with a dairy-themed name in those kinds of books? And another horse that had a white star on its forehead and was temperamental but ultimately the heroine's equine soul-mate?
