Found out about this blog via the always estimable Squid of Leelo and His Potty-Mouthed Mom. In theory I'm all for anything that presents different and unsaccharine perspectives on the whole Special Needs Mom/Dad/Parent thing. Except I hate slamming the door on people who really do get comfort from being welcomed to Holland. For some people, that really works, and it helps them feel more at peace. Though I suppose it's less a question of slamming the door than on showing that there are other doors, other ways of coming to terms.

Yes, Primera had rather a rough day: today's perseveration was the guitar, and she exited the table in search of my old one. Lately it's been American Idol, and she spends all kinds of time watching YouTube clips, to the point that we have to set limits on computer access. Which makes me think about Someday Soon, when we won't be able to control all the maladaptive ways she spends her time.

Ah well. The seder, at least, was good. And she and Secundo were giggling, making trouble, and not paying attention. The spouse was less than delighted, but it was so nearly what I remembered from my childhood (crawling around under the table and hitting my head against the infrastructure) that I had to smile too.
