Serendipity
Was going through the basement today, preparing for [insert boring house project here] when I came upon a book I'd read in my long-ago misspent youth: Stories from Shakespeare, by Marchette Chute (who could ever forget the name Marchette Chute?). Anyway, I'd adored it as a child, and I probably know more about Shakespeare from that book than from an actual consultation of Shakespeare's plays. The kids like it when I read mythology to them--Secundo in particular loved hearing the story of Oedipus, and he even remembered recently that he'd stabbed himself in the eyes. Oh, yes, I am an excellent parent, telling my darling son the story of Oedipus marrying his mommy. But that book had stayed at the back of my mind, something I'd wished I still had.
Fun. It is fun playing with fonts. Fonts are fun.
Nell, if you're reading this, do you remember that book? I think Suss had read it too.

FWIW, I just noticed that Lamb's Shakespeare is cast in the movie Our Man in Havana....
Mais oui! Did you ever read The Night They Stole the Alphabet?
