Randomness: I have a lot of nerve mentioning anarchist impulses when I've been on a spending spree: bought "How to Draw" books for Prima. She loves to draw, though her strongest preference is for anime-type drawings, like the ones on the execrable Winx Club cartoons. I have to remind myself that I was fixated on Speed Racer when I was about her age. A few weeks ago I wandered over to the graphic novels section of the bookstore, and there was this whole other world I knew nothing about, with words I didn't know like "manga," that spoke to me of small smelly cramped specialty bookstores populated by strange obsessive wormy men in overcoats (okay, it probably didn't help that I associate it w/American Splendor, which I bought while I was there). But it's just a feeling--I could be wrong.

I also got her the MEER-2 (Manual of Exercises for Expressive Reasoning) from Linguisystems: it's out of print, but they'll make you up a copy if you order it directly from them. And every day I wake up sure that today's the day I'll order something by Pamela Tanguay.

Plus I made appointments for a very good speech pathologist: I want a real speech evaluation done, not one via the bitchy school SLP who thinks I have Munchausen's by Proxy. It occurs to me as I'm typing that all this is some kind of warped spec. ed. version of back-to-school shopping.
