To the people ending up at this website b/c they're googling about Sue Rubin and FC. I can't speak to her particular story, but there's been shitloads of research on FC, to the general effect that it DOESN'T WORK. Check out this link. It's sad that this is the movie that got shown, instead of something on ABA. I don't know if Sue Rubin is an exception: she certainly seems to be one, and it looked to me like she was typing on her own. But a friend of mine was telling me her sister called her up all excited that this was something she could try with her son, and that scares me--the research on ABA is so much better and more compelling.

But then, who WOULDN'T want to believe that there's a brilliant person trapped inside, just waiting to be let out with the aid of a keyboard? Of course this is going to appeal to parents. ABA is many things, but as a method of teaching, it doesn't tap into parents' fantasies (I'm talkin' method, not results, here).
