Gee Whiz

I know this is really corny, b/c we're all used to the wonders of modern technology and the global village. And when I first started actively using email, it was way fun to find out the answer to something from my friend in Israel (hi, Allison!). But I still get a kick out of talking to someone on the other side of the world, even if it is Dell tech support: he wanted to know when the spousal unit would be home to do something with our backup files, and I said about 7:00, and I asked what time zone, so he said he was in India. Near Bombay, he tells me. Which I may never see, and doesn't it seem amazing, sometimes, that I can be sitting in my chair here and on the other side of the world someone can hear me and talk to me, even if it is about my hard drive?

Now, where are those moving sidewalks they kept promising me in elementary school?
